What personal data we collect and why we collect it

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Our contact forms can be found thoughout our website to send us a general enquire or to make a referral to us for your self, or someone that you may be supporting. We collect only the information that is necessary to provide the services that we offer, and our website is secure.

The Therapyhub.me may however share your information with our trusted partners and suppliers who work with us on or on our behalf to deliver our services, but processing of this information is always carried out under our instruction. Some examples of where we may share your information are with our fulfilment partners who help to create and send information to you to reduce our costs, with our partners who help us to process donations and help us to manage our social media accounts.
We enter into contracts with these service providers that require them to comply with Data Protection Laws and ensure that they have appropriate controls in place to secure your information.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
Where the function is available for users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
We keep your information for as long as is necesary to provide the service we are providing. Once that service has ended all information is destroyed inline with General Data Protection Regulations 2018 (GDPR) and The Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA). We may also take into account guidance from any regulatory bodies such as The British Association Of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP).
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you in line with GDPR. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
You have the right to request access to a copy of the personal information that we hold about you, along with information on what personal information we use, why we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it for and whether it has been used for any automated decision making. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service, and if the service is available on our website all comments will be reviewed for satisfactory content before being posted by our website administrator.

As an organisation we have full policy & procedures that guide out staff and volunteers (data processors) on how best to handle your information.
